E-mobility is advancing rapidly, driven by the need for high system efficiency and low carbon emissions, with power electronics emerging as a pivotal technology that opens numerous future opportunities. At the 12th IEEE Future of Electronic Power Processing and Conversion (FEPPCON XII) 2024, organized by IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS), a session was dedicated to exploring these themes, focusing on the latest advancements in cryogenic power electronics, advanced energy storage systems, and their roles in promoting sustainable E-mobility. This article provides a summary of the session’s key outcomes and examines future initiatives in the field.
Industries and governments worldwide push for cleaner and more energy-efficient power conversion techniques with the growing need for higher system efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, and more sustainable transportation solutions (see Figure 1). Advancements in power electronics are enabling significant breakthroughs in energy management, storage, and conversion, making electrification more viable across various sectors.
