Information for Prospective Authors

In addition to solicited articles, the Magazine also accepts articles contributed by practicing power electronics engineers, experienced designers, and researchers from either industry or academia. These articles offer effective use of state-of-the-art electronic components and semiconductor devices, applications of control theory and circuit design techniques, and the development of analytical tools used in efficient and effective energy conversion, control, utilization, and conditioning of electric power.

If you are interested in contributing an original article, please submit a one-paragraph abstract (less than 250 words) to the Editor-in-Chief (EIC). It should describe the topic of interest, explain why it is important, and explain what new information or value it brings to the readers of the Magazine.

Abstracts are reviewed by the editorial board, and the EIC will inform you whether or not the abstract is accepted or needs to be revised. If accepted, you will receive guidelines to write the article, which include simple instructions on how to submit the final manuscript. Below are just a few items included in the guidelines:

• Source File: Microsoft Word (single column format, single line spacing)
• Word Count: 2,500 words maximum (±350 words)
• Illustrations: 10 to 12 figures/tables (PS, EPS, PDF, PNG, JPG, or TIFF format, minimum 300 dpi)
• Byline: Short author bio(s) at the end of the article
• References: 10 to 15

Articles are peer-reviewed by at least two experts in the field. When the review process is completed, the article will be scheduled for an upcoming issue of the Magazine. The author must make the recommended changes and corrections from the reviewers. Before publication, the author must sign an IEEE copyright form.

Call for Reviewers: The Magazine was created specifically to engage and interact with the working engineering community and industry. It is a high-level engineering publication in its own right, providing application-oriented content at the highest levels of the state of the art. By providing informative, useful, and entertaining columns and articles, it addresses its mandate to serve the power electronics industry. We are always looking for engineers and educators who have an interest in applications-oriented content and serving the power electronics community to volunteer as peer reviewers.
