From NVIDIA’s 800 V vision for the future, to Vertiv’s Director of Engineering Brian Heber’s Plenary talk “HVDC Distribution For Future AI Data Centers” [1], to the unending news reports of data center builds and challenges (both technical and societal) associated therewith, AI datacenters are the talk of the town. They’re certainly providing a much-needed headwind to the silicon carbide space, on the heels of softening automotive demand and oversupply [2]. As a result, another trending topic in both technical and business spaces is the Solid State Transformers (SST) [3], which means there’s plenty of both signal and noise to be found on the topic.
