The IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) was founded on June 20, 1987, to celebrate PELS Day—a global occasion to recognize the society’s founding and to showcase the people, innovations, and progress shaping the future of power electronics. This year’s theme, “Powering a sustainable future for the benefit of humanity,” guided multiple events across the globe and sparked countless conversations about the power of innovation, collaboration, and service.
Particularly, the theme resonated deeply with the young professionals’ community, student branches, and affinity groups worldwide who organized various technical webinars, poster competitions, outreach events, and hands-on demonstrations that emphasized the role of power electronics in decarbonization, e-mobility, energy access, and digital transformation.
