At the recent APEC exhibition, Taiwan Semiconductor demonstrated some of its latest power electronics technologies. The company offers a selection of discrete semiconductors, as well as standard analog components. It also offers a Silicon Carbide and GaN portfolio of rectifiers and switching devices for both low- and high-voltage applications.
In today’s systems, circuit protection is vital, and one of the latest innovations in this field is snapback TVS (transient voltage suppressor) technology. While no device is perfect for all applications, snapback TVS technology is competitive with legacy solutions like gas discharge tubes and metal oxide varistors. The video also shows an AC-DC reference design that highlights the company’s high-performance technologies designed to support a wide range of power and protection applications. It ends with an automotive-grade Schottky diode product portfolio, available in SOD-123W, SOD-128, Thin SMA, and Micro SMA packages. They support junction temperatures up to 175°C, offering very low leakage performance with breakdown voltages from 45V to 120V and forward current ratings from 1A to 5A, all fully AEC-Q101 qualified.
