Digital Transformation of Companies, Their Scope, and the Product Development Lifecycle (Industry Pulse)

The term “Digital Transformation” is starting to pop up everywhere, from governments to company presentations across industries, referring to the rewiring of an organization with digital technology to create new value. However, the changes ushering in this new way of thinking about product development and design have already been happening across the electronics industry.

This article presents some of the new terminology of these changes and how global regulation and customer/supplier needs are shifting to create these new requirements and ultimately reshaping how electronics are designed. We’re predicting an increase in interest from end-equipment customers in increasingly more complex digital collateral to go along with the components they use (from semiconductors to power supplies)—and ultimately an even bigger emphasis on early planning in the ideation and design stage to accommodate these requests.
