NASA and its international partners have been tasked by their taxpayers with leading humanity back to the Moon….to stay, this time. NASA is carrying out this mission via Project Artemis. Project Artemis is not only to put the next man and the first woman on the Moon, but also to establish a permanent outpost from which scientific and industrial activities can expand.
The first step is for NASA and its international partners to conduct robotic and crewed landings near the Lunar South Pole. For the first Artemis crewed landings, the Orion vehicle will rendezvous directly with a human lander for a six to seven day surface visit. These visits will proceed throughout the buildup of the initial crewed outpost.
