Programs, Events and Services

TC 1 organizes the following events:

  • IEEE Workshop on Control and Modeling for Power Electronics (COMPEL): COMPEL is typically held in June each year. The location and general chair are approved during TC 1’s meeting at APEC two years before the event and the final budget is approved during TC 1’s meeting at ECCE two years before the event.
  • IEEE International Conference on DC Microgrid (ICDCM): The ability to generate, store, and use DC electricity locally without the need for long-range transmission and distribution networks enables the possibility for transformational changes in the electricity infrastructure and enhances system-wide efficiency. DC grids and microgrids powered by distributed clean energy sources such as solar PV systems can sustainably power the needs of all human beings equitably around the world.

From time to time, TC 1 may propose a special issue to the IEEE Journal for Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics (JESTPE). The exact topic is dependent on the theme of COMPEL each year. TC 1 also proposes guest editors and supports the organization and review of submissions.

TC 1 established the IEEE PELS Modeling and Control Technical Achievement Award in 2012 and administers this award to honor innovators and researchers who have made outstanding and sustained technical contributions to the advancement of power electronics in the area of modeling and control.
