Programs and Services
TC 1 organizes the following events:
- IEEE Workshop on Control and Modeling for Power Electronics (COMPEL): The details of COMPEL, such as the general chair, location, date, and budget, will be approved during a TC meeting. In general, the workshop is held in June each year.
- IEEE International Conference on DC Microgrid (ICDCM): The ability to generate, store, and use DC electricity locally without the need for long-range transmission and distribution network enables the possibility for transformational changes in the electricity infrastructure.
From time to time, TC 1 may propose a special issue to publish in the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics (JESTPE). The exact topic will be dependent on the theme of COMPEL each year. TC 1 will propose the guest editor(s) for the special issue and support the organization and review of submissions.
The Modeling and Control Technical Achievement Award of PELS was established in 2012 to honor innovators and researchers who have made outstanding and sustained technical contributions to the advancement of power electronics in the area of modeling and control. The award is administrated by TC 1 and is awarded annually.
New Thrust Areas
- Organized Special Issue for JESTPE: "Smart Solid State Transformers for AC/DC Hybrid Power Grids" (Guest Editors: Marco Liserre, Kai Sun)
-
Held a Workshop: "Representation of Power Electronics for Grid Dynamic Studies (PEDG)" (Host: Imperial College, UK)
