Abstract: (This webinar is sponsored by PELS TC 12) As the energy transition accelerates, distributed solar and battery storage are reshaping how power is produced, stored, and consumed. Yet fragmented systems still limit the reliability and intelligence of customer-sited energy. This webinar explores how an integrated, AI-native PV-storage architecture turns standalone components into a single, self-optimizing power system. The session first reviews the PV and BESS market outlook, covering the continued double-digit growth of distributed PV, the rapid scale-up of storage as a grid-balancing asset, and the convergence of solar with EV charging and smart loads. We then walk through four representative scenarios — residential rooftops, small commercial sites, industrial parks, and utility-scale plants — and discuss how a single integrated architecture can serve each, from kilowatt to megawatt scale. The presentation also examines the technology categories that make this possible: high-efficiency isolated DC/DC conversion, modular power architecture, multi-port energy routing, and AI-driven energy management. Special attention is given to wide-bandgap semiconductor devices and the application of machine learning in real-time optimization.
Xinwei liu holds a Master’s degree in Power Electronics and Power Transmission from Zhejiang University (2008). After graduation, he entered the power electronics industry and has since worked in R&D across four closely related fields: telecom power, electric vehicle charging, photovoltaic inverters, and battery energy storage. Over the past 18 years, he has led the R&D of several leading products in each of these areas. His work today focuses on combining power electronics, system integration, and AI-driven energy management to deliver storage and inverter products that are simpler, more reliable, and more intelligent.
