Student Members

Student Members are vital members of PELS since they represent the future of the field and do much of the cutting-edge research that is presented and published at PELS conferences.  PELS aims to cultivate a vibrant community for Student Members to develop their careers in power electronics by providing the following:

  • Competitions: Some of these are sponsored by PELS.
  • Conference Events: Some of these events include student-industry networking receptions and mentorship.
  • Student Branch Chapters (SBC): SBCs offer the opportunity for Student Members in local areas to develop activities for professional development, network with colleagues, and share expertise through a technical exchange.  PELS provides multiple resources to support SBCs.
  • Travel Grants: PELS provides travel grants to support the participation of students at PELS conferences.

Students are able to join PELS for a very low membership fee per year.  Get connected with the power electronics community and make an impact in this exciting field!

PELS Students Subcommittee

The PELS Students Subcommittee was formed in February 2019 and is a sub-unit of the PELS Students and Young Professionals Committee.  PELS students from many countries meet every month to discuss the problems of PELS students and SBCs while also proposing and implementing solutions.
