 IEEE PELS Ph.D. Thesis Talk Award (P3 Talk)

The IEEE PELS Digital Media Committee invites video submissions for the IEEE PELS Ph.D. Thesis Talk Award (P3 Talk). The goal of this competition is to showcase Ph.D. projects to the entire power electronics community - both in academia and industry. The Ph.D. Thesis Talks should be up to 3 minutes long. Five IEEE PELS P3 Talks will be awarded each year.

Description:

  • Upload 3 minute video summarizing your Ph.D. research
  • Judges evaluate your video
  • Receive PELS Best Ph.D. Thesis Prize (up to 5) - US$1,000 + up to US$500 travel support to accept the award + Certificate + Video featured on PELS website
  • The winner will be invited to give a PELS Webinar to talk more about his/her Ph.D. research

Eligibility:

  • Must have received your Ph.D. certificate after 31 March 2018
  • At least one paper published in PELS-sponsored conference or PELS journal/transaction
  • Must be a PELS Member (Student Member or Regular Member)
  • Previously participated are NOT eligible 
  • Due to the COVID 19 virus situation, this year video recorded at home would be also encouraged and eligible

  • Thesis Title
  • Brief Abstract (<200 words)
  • Upload video file or link to the video
  • Keywords (3-5 max)

Timeline:

  • 24 February 2020 - Submission opening soon
  • EXTENDED TO 27 April 2020 - Submission Deadline
  • 1 May-30 June 2020 - Judging Phase
  • 1 July 2020 - Winners Notified
  • 11 October 2020 - Award presented at ECCE NA 2020- Detroit, Michigan
