In Memoriam: Manfred Stiebler

Prof. em. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Stiebler was born on February 3, 1932 in Breslau. He passed away on October 7, 2021. He received the diploma (Dipl. Ing.) in 1957 and the Dr. Ing. degree in 1967 from TU Darmstadt. He worked in R&D departments with AEG, Large Electric Machines plant in Berlin, where he oversaw a test lab. Since 1970 he was head of the development dept. in the AEG Fractional Horsepower Motor factory in Oldenburg. Since 1977 he was a full professor in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science of TU Berlin; an emeritus and still teaching before his passing. His fields of teaching and research were electric machines and drives, with a special interest in wind energy application. He was an active member of VDE, and a Life Senior member of IEEE. Prof. em. Dr.-Ing. Stiebler leaves three children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His wife Margret Stiebler passed away in 2017.
