Call for Participation: IEEE Competition on Energy Access and Off-Grid Systems

Are you working on cutting-edge solutions for energy access and energy transition?  Do you have breakthrough ideas in decentralized energy systems, off-grid systems, or microgrids?  PELS TC 12 invites students, researchers, and professionals to participate in its Poster Competition on Energy Access and Off-Grid Systems.  This is your chance to showcase your innovative research and solutions to a broader audience in a dynamic and engaging format.

 

Competition Tracks and Topics of Interest (other related topics are welcome)

Track A: Hardware Solutions

  • Efficient power electronic solutions
  • Low-cost, robust generation and storage devices
  • Off-grid and mini-grid hardware designs
  • Ultra-efficient appliances

Track B: Control and Automation

  • AI/ML-enabled optimization
  • Cybersecurity for microgrids
  • Energy management systems (EMS)
  • Fault detection and predictive maintenance
  • Real-time inverter/microgrid control

Track C: Grid and Community Solutions

  • Energy sharing and peer-to-peer models
  • Policy and social impact
  • Scalable grid integration for weak grids
  • Self-organizing grids and microgrids
  • Sensing, architecture, market, and business models for energy access

 

Prizes and Awards
Winners in each category will receive a certificate and USD 500 cash prize.

Posters will be evaluated on their technical quality, relevance, clarity, and potential impact.

 

How to Submit
Submit the following materials as attachments in a single email to IEEEPELS.TC12@gmail.com with the subject line “Poster Submission – [Track] – [Presenting Author Name]”.

  1. Poster (A1 size, PDF format, max. 20 MB)
  2. Abstract with up to 5 keywords (PDF or Word, max. 300 words)
  3. Author list (Names, Affiliations, Countries, Emails)
  4. Career stage of the presenting author (e.g. undergraduate student, master’s student, PhD student, postdoc, professor, or industry professional)
  5. (optional) 3-minute presentation video link (only required if you want to be considered for Best Presentation Award – please use cloud-based channels such as OneDrive, YouTube, Dropbox, etc. and ensure the link is accessible without special permission)

 

Submission Deadline: 10 October 2025
The award winners will be announced at the IEEE Energy Conversion Conference and Expo (ECCE) 2025 TC 12 Annual Meeting on 20 October 2025 at Philadephia, PA, USA.
