Title: From Harmonics to Harmony: Lessons learned through years of managing my career and life
Abstract: In this talk, I’d like to focus on the topic of work-life balance for women, as well as some discussion on how to thrive as the minority in the workplace. I will share the lessons learned and the useful tips and tricks I’ve discovered, in my pursuit of living a fulfilled life as a multi-passionate woman engineer and mother of two.
Biography: Yingying Kuai is an Engineering Specialist with the Innovation and Technology Development Division of Caterpillar Inc. Her expertise is in the area of power electronics, and her responsibilities include leading cross-organizational teams in developing advanced technologies for various areas. In addition to her passion in engineering and innovation, she is also enthusiastic in promoting diversity and inclusion, serving as the Global Chair for the Caterpillar Chinese Resource Group. Her community engagements also include serving in the IEEE PELS Young Professionals’ Committee and the Peoria Chinese Association.
Yingying holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a M.S. degree from North Dakota State University, both in Electrical Engineering, and a B.M. degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in Piano Performance. She is the proud mother of two dazzling toddlers, and enjoys playing the piano and portrait photography in her spare time.
