PELS Meetings and Events at SPEC/COBEP 2019

PELS Chapter Chair Forum @SPEC/COBEP 2019  

PELS would like to invite the PELS Chapter Chars to attend the PELS Chapter Forum during the 2019 Southern Power Electronics Conference (SPEC) and Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP) joint conferences that will be held in Santos Brazil, on December 1st to 4th.

If you do not have a paper to present at SPEC-COBEP 2019, PELS would like to provide you a subsidy totaling up to 500 USD for your travel expenses such as an economy flight/bus/train ticket and one night hotel room to attend the Chapter Forum. This support can only be offered to one Officer per Chapter/Student Branch Chapter. Attendance is required for reimbursement requests.

PELS Women in Engineering (WIE) Breakfast @SPEC/COBEP 2019 

Join us for the PELS WIE Breakfast, where our speakers are prominent women in power electronics and engineering. Over breakfast, we listen to a dynamic woman speaker share her career challenges and triumphs and invite discussion on relevant topics. The PELS WIE Breakfast is open to all who support our efforts in providing mentorship to women in engineering and is free of charge.

Camila Seibel GehrkeSpeaker: Prof. Camila Seibel Gehrke

Title: Who am I? From my choices to my life

Abstract: In this talk, I will share my personal experience from school to university. The choices I have made, mentors, projects, IEEE path to my current position in life.

Biography: Camila Seibel Gehrke graduated in electrical engineering at UNIJUI, Ijui-RS, 2009. She received her master's and Ph.D. from UFCG, Campina Grande-PB, 2010 and 2014. Since 2014, she is a professor at UFPB, João Pessoa-PB. She has started to work with power electronic applied to the grid in her masters. She is the co-founder of the Smart Grid Group (SG2), in which the main research is converters connected to the grid enabling optimal integration of renewable sources and accumulators. Currently, she is the coordinator of SG2 and her main interests are power electronics applied to microgrids, distributed generation, renewable sources, and power quality. She is an IEEE member since 2009 and, in 2017, she became the IEEE Young Professionals (YP) chair in Bahia Section. In YP, she has developed activities to elevate the professionals who graduated within 15 years.
