Women in Engineering Luncheon at ICPE 2019-ECCE Asia
Join us for the WIE Luncheon, where our speakers are prominent women in power electronics and engineering. Over lunch, we listen to a dynamic woman speaker share her career challenges and triumphs and invite discussion on relevant topics. The WIE Luncheon is open to all who support our efforts in providing mentorship to women in engineering and is free of charge.

Title: My Career Progression Along with the Development of Renewable Energy over the Past 25 Years
Abstract: Having been working as an educator and researcher in power electronics & renewable energy for more than 25 years, I really feel fortunate to link my career advancement along with the fast development of renewable energy technologies. I am happy and honored to share some of my experiences with my participation in key projects on power electronics and renewable energy technologies supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology and National Science Foundation Committee (NSFC), China, such as the 973 projects and NSFC key projects on operation control and management of microgrids. I have also been involved in the organization of important conferences supported by CES&PELS and KIPE&IEEJ, such as PEDG2007 & PEDG 2010, 2015 ICPE-ECCE Asia and IPEMC 2016-ECCEAsia. Through these valuable experiences, I have witnessed the fast development of renewable energy technologies all over the world in the past decades. The R&D endeavors and the volunteer services have helped me to enhance my career in enabling me to stay in the frontier of research on smart grid and establish fruitful international collaborations. I really enjoy the process, although there were many difficulties to overcome on the road forward to the goal.
Meiqin Mao received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) in 1983, 1988 and 2004 respectively. She is now a Professor with the School of Electrical and Automation Engineering, HFUT, China. Her research interests and expertise include renewable energy generation technology, distributed power generation and microgrids, power electronics applied in power systems. She has published more than 170 papers. She serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics and the member of IEEE William E. Newell Power Electronics Award Committee (2016-2018).
