IEEE PELS Vehicle and Transportation Systems Achievement Award
The IEEE Vehicle and Transportation Systems Achievement Award of the IEEE Power Electronics Society is established to recognize innovators and researchers who have made outstanding technical contributions to the advancement of power electronics in the area of vehicle and transportation systems. The award recipient should be an active member of IEEE. There are no other restrictions as to nationality, age, gender, or IEEE member grade. The award is not to be made to a company. The award may not be given more frequently than annually nor does it need to be given each and every year, i.e. the award will only be given in years when a suitable candidate is selected based upon meeting all of the eligibility and selection requirements.
The criteria considered by the Award Committee include:
-Quality of technical achievement and contribution to the field;
-Advancement of the technology;
-Sustained impact on the relevant technical community and the profession;
-Benefit to the society;
-The quality of the nomination.
The Award consists of an award plaque and a one-time honorarium of $1,500 USD. In addition, a maximum and total amount of $1,500 USD will be available to the recipient to share as reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs incurred to attend the place of the presentation of the award. Any conference registration fees that the Award recipients would have to pay to attend the award ceremony will be waived.
If an award is given, it will be presented once a year at the IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo (ITEC).
If you would like to nominate an IEEE member for the IEEE PELS Vehicle and Transportation Systems Achievement Award, please go to our IEEE Society Awards Application System when the nomination period opens on 1 January 2020. To identify as nominator, you will be asked in the beginning of this process to log in your existing IEEE account or to register for a new one.
Subsequently you should choose IEEE PELS Vehicle and Transportation Systems Achievement Award and enter the required data and documents. Please note that an up to five page curriculum vitae of the nominee will be required along with up to two reference letters, containing the following: Name, title, contact data, main field of interest of the referee, relationship between the referee and the nominee, achievements of the nominee with respect to the selection criteria indicated in the award description, the reason why the referee personally recommends the nominee for the award, signature of the referee and date.
