CFP: WIPDA-ASIA 2018- XI’AN Shaanxi, China, May 2018
The 1st IEEE Workshop on Wide Bandgap Power Devices and Applications in Asia (WiPDA Asia 2018), sponsored by the IEEE will be held from May 17th to 19th, 2018 in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China. WiPDA Asia 2018 aims to provide a forum for device scientists, circuit designers, and application engineers share technology updates, research findings, development experience, and application knowledge.
The workshop calls for paper now and the digest deadline is November 22th, 2017. You are warmly welcome to submit your research papers and present them during the workshop. All presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings and submitted to the IEEExplore database. 2/3 of the technical papers will be recommended to be published on “IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics of Power Electronics” (IF=4.27) through peer review process.
The WiPDA Asia 2018 will include an extensive program of tutorials; keynotes, technical and poster sessions; a panel discussion; an exhibition; and a banquet. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Heteroepitaxial and bulk materials growth
* Gate dielectrics and surface passivation
* Device structures and fabrication techniques
* Device characterization and modeling
* Very high efficiency and compact converters
* SOAs including short-circuit, spike, and transient tolerance
* Harsh environment (e.g. high temperature) operation and reliability
* Packaging, power modules, and ICs
* Hard-switched and soft-switched applications
* Common-mode and EMI management
* Gate drive and other auxiliary circuits
* High-performance passive components
* Applications in renewable energy and storage, transportation, industrial drives, and grid power systems
WiPDA Asia 2018 keynote sessions will be held on May 18th and May 19th, in which more than 10 leading experts from academia, industry, and research institutes will share their insights on technology developments and future trends.
Tutorials, Panel Session, and Exhibition
WiPDA Asia 2018 will offer tutorials covering both device and application topics on May 17th afternoon. Two panel sessions focused on high-voltage SiC and high-frequency GaN featuring leading experts from government, industry, and academia will be part of the meeting. Also, a number of booths, demonstrating the leading-edge technology in Wide Bandgap Devices field, will be available for exhibition.
Xi'an is the capital of Shanxi province in China and a sub-provincial city. As one of the most important cities in Chinese history, Xi'an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China for it has been the capital of 13 dynasties, including the Zhou, Qin, Han, and the Tang. Xi'an is also renowned for being the eastern terminus of the Silk Road and for the location of the Terracotta Army from Qin Dynasty. The city has more than 3,100 years of history. It has a well-preserved City wall which was re-constructed in the 14th century during the early Ming Dynasty based on the inner imperial palace of Tang Dynasty. The Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang and his Terracotta Army are located 40 km to the east of the city. The Bell Tower and Drum Tower, both are located at the city's central axis. The city's Muslim quarter, which is home to the Great Mosque of Xi'an, is famous for its various delicious food. The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and Small Wild Goose Pagoda are both spectacular towers and both are well over 1,000 years old and have survived great earthquakes. The former is next to a large square with the largest fountain in Asia which projects water high into the air, rising and falling in time to music during one of the daily performances (usually at noon and soon after sunset). The Stele Forest is famous for its numerous historic inscriptions and stoneworks. There are much more than stated above to explore in Xi’an. All the attendees will be invited to watch the famous show” Song of Everlasting Sorrow” on May 18th, 2018.
The important dates are:
* Digest (two pages) deadline: Dec 8thh, 2017.
* Notification of acceptance: Jan. 10th, 2018.
* Deadline for final paper submission: Feb. 10th, 2018.
