Call for Nominations

The IEEE Power Electronics Society (IEEE PELS) Awards Committee is seeking nominations for 2021 Awards and other recognitions – Do you know a member that should be recognized for outstanding work in the Power Electronics Field? The requirements for submission are easy to follow. Award recipients will be highly recognized for their contributions!

Here are the awards for which we are seeking nominations by 31 March 2021.
IEEE PELS R. David Middlebrook Achievement Award
For an outstanding contribution in the technical field of power electronics A bronze medal, a certificate and an honorarium of 5000 USD.
Richard M. Bass Outstanding Young Power Electronics Engineer Award
For outstanding achievement in the field of power electronics by an engineer less than 35 years of age 1500USD and certificate.
IEEE PELS Harry A. Owen, Jr. Distinguished Service Award
To honor long and distinguished service to the welfare of the Power Electronics Society at an exceptional level. The prize consists of an engraved plaque and honorarium of 3500 USD.
IEEE PELS Energy Storage Innovation Award
The IEEE PELS Energy Storage Innovation Award is given to an individual or a group of up to three for innovation in energy storage technology that significantly exceeds contemporary performance limits and has practical application in communications energy systems. The innovation may be in the form of an adequately-described new design, practicable concept, an invention, verified manufacturing step or product. The award consists of an award certificate honorarium of 2500 USD
Modeling and Control Technical Achievement Award
To honor innovators and researchers who have made outstanding and sustained technical contributions to the advancement of power electronics in the area of modeling and control. The award consists of an honorarium of 1500 USD and engraved plaque.
To recognize innovators and researchers who have made outstanding technical contributions to the advancement of power electronic circuits, components, devices, and/or systems toward a higher level of integration and/or miniaturization of switching power converters. The award consists of an engraved plaque and honorarium of 1500 USD.
IEEE PELS Sustainable Energy Systems Technical Achievement Award
To recognize and honor individuals who have contributed scholarly and original technical and scientific contributions towards the advancement of power electronics in the area of sustainable energy systems. The award consists of a single award of 1500 USD and engraved plaque.
IEEE PELS Award for Achievement in Power Electronics Standards
To recognize and honor individuals who have made outstanding and sustained contributions or services in IEEE standards relevant to the field of power electronics. THe award consists of an honorarium of 1500 USD and engraved plaque to a single recipient.
IEEE Power Electronics Emerging Technology Award
To recognize engineers and researchers who have made outstanding technical contributions to one or more emerging research topics in power electronics. At least three emerging research topics will be announced each year, which are decided annually by PELS High Performance and Emerging Technologies Technical Committee (TC6). The award consists of a single annual award of 1500 USD and engraved plaque
IEEE PELS Vehicle and Transportation Systems Achievement Award
To recognize innovators and researchers who have made outstanding technical contributions to the advancement of power electronics in the area of vehicle and transportation systems. The Award consists of an award plaque and a one-time honorarium of 1500 USD.
IEEE Power Electronics Society Best Chapter & Best Student Branch Award
To recognize excellent service by a PELS Chapter to its members and to the power electronics community. 1000-1500 USD to support activities of the chapter and a certificate.
IEEE Power Electronics Society Ph.D. Thesis Talk Award
3-minute video summarizing your PhD research. Up to Five PELS Best PhD Thesis winners will receive a one-time honorarium of 1000 USD and certificate.
