PELS Young Professional reception at ECCE 2010
The first ten years after graduation from university can be challenging for young professionals. Employment searches, new jobs, professional growth, career development, and life status changes are common experiences for many recent graduates. Going through these challenges can be daunting but IEEE members never have to go through these experiences alone or uninformed.
IEEE Young Professionals (formerly Graduates of the Last Decade, GOLD) was created in 1996 as a membership program to help students transition to young professionals within the larger IEEE community. IEEE student members are automatically added to the Young Professionals community as they graduate. IEEE Young Professionals is a vibrant community of engineers, scientists, and technical experts with member representation across the globe and throughout IEEE societies.
IEEE PELS hosts a variety of events geared to helping young professional members get connected in the power electronics community. Special access receptions and dinners, mentoring, and other unique growth opportunities are avaiable for PELS young professional members.

Student and Young Professional members of PELS participated in a fun, informal reception at ECCE 2013 in Denver. The reception was held at the Appaloosa Grill on Monday, September 16th at 7:30pm. Several members of the PELS administrative committee joined about 50 other PELS members in conversation at the free food and drink event.

- APEC 2013 - Dinner with a Luminary
Wish you could meet and talk with some of the most experienced and influential people in the field of power electronics? At APEC 2013, PELS sponsored a dinner with several luminaries that was free for PELS students and young professional members. The dinner took place at 6:30pm on Tuesday, March 19th (immediately after the rap sessions concluded) with about 50 people in attendance. The luminaries included Dong Tan, Dushan Boroyevich, Prasad Enjeti, Bob Guenther, Keyue Smedley, and Uday Deshpande. Look for an article with more details in the PELS newsletter.
