ABOUT PELS
Global leaders in the innovation of power electronics technology
The Power Electronics Society (PELS) is one of the fastest-growing technical societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). For over 35 years, the Society has facilitated and guided the development and innovation in power electronics technology, which includes the application of circuit theory and design techniques, the development of analytical tools for efficient conversion, control, and condition of electric power, and the effective use of electronic components. Some of our members include distinguished award winners, practitioners, and preeminent researchers. PELS also publishes the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, a top-referenced journal among all IEEE publications, IEEE Power Electronics Magazine, and IEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics.
The Society dedicates itself to:
- Keep members up to date on advances in power electronics research and state-of-the-art technological developments to remain competitive in the workplace.
- Provide necessary tools to help members grow both personally and professionally.
- Uphold vital educational and scientific aspects of power electronics and their applications.
In striving to build knowledge and awareness of the latest technologies and other advances in power electronics, the PELS’s goal is to keep its members current and competitive in the workplace and provide them with the tools necessary to help them grow both personally and professionally.
The Society's Mission
“The objectives of the Society shall be scientific, literary, and educational in character. The Society shall advance the theory and practice of electrical and electronics engineering and of the allied arts and sciences and it shall promote a high level of technical excellence among its Members… The Society shall aid in promoting close cooperation and exchange of technical information among its Members and Affiliates, and to this end shall hold meetings for the presentation of papers and their discussion, shall sponsor periodicals and special publications, promote the use of electronic media, and through its committees shall study and provide for the needs of its Members and Affiliates.” (IEEE Power Electronics Society Constitution, art. 1, sec. 2-3)
